Patrick Tanguy They proved to be a valuable partner in building the business.

Technal designs, manufactures and distributes aluminum building systems.  Headquartered in France, the Company has subsidiaries in Spain, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. Monitor Clipper Partners acquired Technal in 1999 from its parent company, Alcan Aluminum, who was divesting its non-core businesses.

Together, Monitor Clipper Partners and Technal collaborated to develop and implement a new, growth-oriented strategy for the Company. Monitor Clipper Partners brought in a seasoned CEO, someone one of MCP’s partners had known for almost 20 years.  MCP’s experience working with unions, as well as our understanding of the French business climate, was very useful.  MCP and management were able to work fast and gain strong support from union leaders.

When the time came to sell Technal, the Company credited MCP with working with efficiency and great understanding in a situation that can be fraught with tension.  During Monitor Clipper Partners’ ownership of Technal, revenues and EBITDA grew 33 percent and 74 percent, respectively, facilitating the eventual sale of the Company to Norsk Hydro and attractive equity returns for all participants.
